Self-Care Tips | Hey Honey Skin Care

Hey Honey, it's time for a little self-care. Do you feel like the world is getting busier? It's only February and it feels like it's been 2020 for like six months!

Self-Care

What is self-care? Well, one of the most important definitions of self-care that we subscribe to is taking time for yourself to do the things you enjoy. Self-care is one of those things that tends to get thrown on the back burner in our lives. We don't always take the time we should to shut our minds off and relax.

When your schedule becomes busier, it becomes even more important to put yourself first and make time to take care of yourself. There's a variety of different things you can do when you take some time for yourself and there's no set structure. Truly, you should do whatever you want to do and whatever makes you happy. We know that sometimes, when you have a whole day to yourself, it can be a little daunting and you'll want to fill it with the things you have to get done. So, we wanted to give you some tips for self-care that will help you relax and find things to do that you will actually enjoy.

Pick a Day

One of the best things you can do for yourself is to schedule some time to relax. Now, not all of us are able to do this every day and that's ok! Pick a day every week that's all about you. Make sure you write it on your calendar and stick to it! Do whatever makes you happy on that day, whether it's getting lunch with a friend or bingeing Friends on Netflix.

You also might not be able to pick a whole day, and that's ok too. Pick a few hours on a day of the week that works for you. A lot of people pick Sunday because it's the day before your busy work week starts and it's a great feeling to start the week off relaxed. Overall, it's just important to fit it into your schedule, so whatever day works best for you is perfectly fine.

Internet Detox

Even if it's for an hour. Turn your phone off and enjoy time with friends, do some crafts, honestly, do something you really enjoy doing. You can even do your makeup or long skincare routine (might we suggest a lovely Love Your Body moisturizer to go along with your routine?).

If you're feeling like you really need to destress, maybe do an internet detox for the whole day. You can read a book you've been meaning to get to, workout, go outside, whatever you want to do. This is a day that's all about you and what you enjoy. If you aren't feeling like you can fully turn your phone off, add the people to your favorites list that you need to know when they call and put your phone on do not disturb. Even just a little bit of restriction on the constant notifications will help to ease some of the anxiety you may be feeling.

Plan Out Your Week

One of the most relaxing things is having your whole week planned out so you don't have to worry about it. Whether that means meal planning or writing down appointments you have for the week, it's less of a scramble to get yourself organized on Monday. If you're someone who likes to-do lists, you can also make yourself some small to-do lists for each day. Nothing big and overwhelming, just somethings that you will need to get done each day.

You can also do some small chores that don't require a lot out of you but it will help take the pressure off of you during the week. Maybe a load of laundry or some light cleaning? Or, you can just tidy up your room/apartment, so you get that feeling of being in a fresh and clean space.

Take A Bath

Is there any better way to relax than in a nice and soothing bath? Maybe you can even try a milk bath! I know what you're thinking, that seems strange. But milk baths are supposed to be very good for hydrating your skin. Check out this article by HowStuffWorks to see more sources and more information about milk baths.

If you're not a milk bath type of person, maybe treat yourself to some bath bombs or Epsom salt. Epsom salt is amazing for sore muscles and a lot of us experience some tightness in our muscles when we have a stressful week. So, we're sure that this will do the trick!

Plus, there's something inherently relaxing about taking a bath that you don't get from a shower. Maybe it the fact that you're sitting or that it's the perfect time to meditate. But we highly recommend taking a moment to just relax in a warm bath, maybe even light some candles to get the rest of that aesthetic going.

Chill-Out Music

Put on some relaxing music because it's time to chill out. Whether this means lo-fi music, coffee shop music, or folk-pop (think Vance Joy). Essentially, you're busting out either your happy playlist or your study playlist, whichever vibe you're going for on your nice relaxing day. Whether you want to listen to your chill-out music while you're doing other things or if you want to sit and actually listen to it, it's totally up to you.

Need to find a new playlist for your first self-care day? Check out Spotify's lofi hip hop playlist by clicking here or you can search "lofi hip hop" on your preferred music player.

Skincare

Is there anything more relaxing than to do a longer than normal skincare routine on your self-care day? Take some time to enjoy your routine or maybe take some time to create one. Never tried skincare before? Check out our Pinterest board that's full of tips by clicking here. You can also take this time to try out some new products and see how you like them (check out our Create A Set by clicking here if you would like to find some new products to try!). It's your day! Do what makes you happy and helps you feel relaxed.

We hope that these tips help you make the most of your self-care day. We cannot stress how important it is to take time for yourself. Even if you end up just relaxing on the couch for an hour and reading a book or listening to music or even meditating for five minutes. Taking that time for yourself will help to relieve a lot of the anxiety that you may be feeling throughout the week.
